I'm based in Australia, moving here with my family from Amsterdam, Netherlands, at the age of 12. My love for art started when I spent time with my father, a Dutch artist and painter, in his studio. After school, I went to art college and took sculpture as an elective. From then on, sculpture has been my main artistic practice, with a focus on the beautiful natural materials available here in Australia and around the world. After Art College, I held positions on the Warana Festival Committee (Brisbane), the Crafts Council (Queensland) and Society of Sculptors Queensland (president 1983—1985), to promote public art and sculpture in Queensland and Australia. Sculpture has been my life's career and you can find my sculptures in many places in Australia and overseas.

My work is heavily influenced by my travels and the cultures I have experienced. I use archetypal and mythological imagery, related to the environment and the community in which my sculptures will be placed. Every piece I create is produced with in harmony with the unique piece of stone I'm using, which lends itself to certain forms and surfaces. My motto is “blossom with the beauty of natural stone”. Whether it's a personal gift or a statement piece for your home or garden or a public art piece, I work closely with my clients to bring your space or place to life.
I use natural materials most often, which provide a link between people and nature. People are naturally drawn to the tactile nature of stone, which can be highly polished or textured. Stone is durable and sustainable, the most environmentally sound choice of material, perfect for public and private art collections. It comes in a variety of forms from the soft glow of marble, to the natural look of sandstone (which can also be highly polished) to the impressive presence of granite. In creating sculptures for public places or private spaces, each artwork I create begins with understanding my client's desires and the story that can be told. I believe in a collaborative approach, ensuring that together we explore ideas leading to an amazing sculpture reflecting the essence of the place and enriching the lives of all who view it. I also work intuitively, listening to the stone and working with it to bring out its beauty and presence.
